This Week Brought to You by Meds, Maybes, and Murder Thrillers

Hi friends —

It’s been a little quiet over here lately, and I wanted to check in before the week completely runs away from me. I know I’ve been MIA on the blog and even slower than usual responding to messages, comments, or anything resembling social media. Truthfully, it’s been one of those weeks — and not in the “busy with errands and iced coffee in hand” kind of way.

Matt’s been dealing with a running injury that took an unexpected turn — enough to send us to the ER a couple of times. (Yes, plural.) He’s doing okay now, thankfully, but it’s been a cocktail of pain meds, muscle relaxers, follow-ups, and a whole lot of unplanned detours in our schedule. His training cycle has hit pause for now, but if you know Matt, you know it takes more than nerve pain and a stack of prescriptions to keep him completely still.

Meanwhile… in a very different corner of life… there are some potentially very big things unfolding on my end — the kind of things I can’t quite blog about yet. It’s the sort of season where there are lots of behind-the-scenes moves and decisions, and while none of it is fully settled, I can already tell it’s going to make for one hell of a post someday. Just not today.

What I can say is that life’s been stretching me in ways I didn’t expect this month — physically, emotionally, and professionally — and I’m doing my best to ride the wave with as much clarity and grace as I can muster. Some days that looks like leadership meetings and marathon training. Other days it looks like quietly hitting reset in the ER waiting room with a bag of snacks and a half-charged phone.

And through it all, the little moment I’ve carved out for myself each day? Reading. I’ve been fully pulled into Things We Do in the Dark by Jennifer Hillier — and let me tell you, it’s the kind of twisty, atmospheric thriller that lets you disappear for a while in the best way possible. A bit of peace, a bit of distraction, and exactly what I’ve needed.

Anyway — I just wanted to say hi. And thank you for the grace if you’ve been wondering where I disappeared to. I’ll be back to posting more regularly soon. I’ve got a few fun updates queued up (including some summer favorites and Chicago training notes), and of course, I’ll share more when I can.

Until then, consider this my quick wave from the edge of the chaos — still standing, still writing, and still collecting stories for a future post I’ll definitely want to remember.

xoxo
