Something I would like to learn - Manic Mondays and Bad Hair Days!
Happy Monday everybody! And boy what a manic Monday it has been so far. Nobody really looks forward to that first day of the week but I normally do. I love to make Mondays one of my on campus days and find it so much easier to commute and find parking on a day that most people like to work from home. My body has been craving extra sleep these days and despite sleeping 9.5 hours Saturday night and 8/5 last night, I'm exausted. Good thing there's a new flavor of Monster Energy to help with that lol
This morning during my pre-workout/morning book reading I thought, I wish I took as genuine of an interest in blogging like I do with my book reading recently. Matt was out of town over the weekend to do his first Hyrox and I didn't want to spend the PTO so I stayed home. I was lonely without him but very happy to become one with the couch after my morning run and just spend time in the pages of the third installment of The Housemaid. The early morning hours seem to be all the time that I have during the week to do my reading. I enjoyed a few chapters before getting into the garage to do the workout my "Coach" prescribed. I use "coach" to imply Matthew lol he is really effective in what he plans out for me each day and it's such a big help to me to not have to spend time on the guess work. As far as food goes, that's up to me. I'm really working on being more intentional with my nutrition and making sure I eat more than just the bare minimum. Back when I was being coached for weight lifting/body building in early 2020, my hired coach had me SUPER dialed in with what I was eating and I actually broke out those nutrition plans over the weekend and gave his concepts a hard look.
After I looked back at my old nutrition plans, I was really surprised to see just how similarly they are structured to some concepts covered in a book I read recently by Matt Fitzgerald. As I'm sitting here eating my jasmine rice, I can happily report that carbs are a good 80% of what you should be consuming if you're trying to get in shape. Of course depending on your goals (mine are to get stronger and faster) I'm eating around 150 carbs a day right now. All afternoon on Sunday I broke out that old food scale, pan seared mounds of shrimp and measured out my pre-planned food for the week. I'm back on my old macros (with some small adjustments, mainly to fit in my almond milk for calcium needs) and I'm excited to see how my fitness will improve and also if I can shake 5 pounds off in time for summer. Not that I'm hardcore looking to lose anything, but I know a byproduct of getting into better shape is an improved physique. You know what? How about I take a couple pics tomorrow morning and see the after in about a month? Great for accountability! And maybe sometime this week I can show you guys what a full day of eating on my macro plan looks like for someone my height/weight (5'5, 135) who is trying to lean up a bit without compromising fitness.
And now.....how about I stop rambling and cover todays topic! As I'm sitting here at work on a Monday enjoying my shrimp and rice, what I would like to learn is how to make my nutrition work for me! I am not a foodie, but I need to be more intentional about how I eat. Not just in how it affects me physically but mentally as well. But that might always be a learning process ya know? I won't stop trying though, very determined and that's a good thing but also one of my toxic qualities when I think about it lol sometimes I need to just chill...
What's everyone doing for Spring Break? I only just found out it was Spring Break in Clay when I checked online today. I noticed that the traffic was extremely pleasant when I was driving up 17 and didn't have any issue getting to work on time. With it being spring break, that means my nephew is not in school. Matt has an off cycle this week so we will probably be snagging the kids at some point and take them up to the community pools that just opened. The kids love the splash pad at Splash Park and we love watching them play in the water. Any trip to the pool would not be completed without a trip to Jeremiah's too so here's hoping my nutrition plans will not be dismantled when we order for the boys lol
Thanks for spending part of your afternoon/evening with me! Until next time!
