Post-Marathon Day 2: Stretch, Strength, and Stillness

Two days post-Chicago Marathon and I’m starting to feel like a human again. The soreness has finally downgraded from “hobbling down stairs” to “gracefully wincing,” which feels like progress.

This morning I rolled out my mat for some gentle Pilates, thinking it would just be a recovery stretch. But as it usually goes, one move led to another — and before I knew it, my core was firing, my shoulders were burning, and it had quietly turned into a full-blown upper-body session.

It felt good to move again. Not run — but move.

There’s a certain emptiness that comes after crossing a finish line you’ve been chasing for months. The discipline, the structure, the countdown — suddenly it all goes quiet. But in that silence, there’s also space. Space to reflect, to reset, and to ask the big question: what’s next?

I don’t have the full answer yet. Maybe it’s another race. Maybe it’s something entirely new. But today, it’s about listening to my body, giving it what it needs, and remembering that rest is also a form of respect — for the miles I’ve already run, and for the strength I’ll build next.

Here’s to the in-between season — where recovery meets rediscovery. 🌿

Come back tomorrow for some tea and more topics. I’m thinking it’s time to start really integrating in more blogging into the picture as part of my healthy daily reflections! I hope you all will join me 🧘‍♀️
