Waterslides, Storm Naps, and Spinach Muffins
You know those Saturdays that don’t start until… way later than planned because you decided to burn a few extra calories the fun way? Yeah. That was today. Let’s just say I didn’t exactly leap out of bed for my run this morning—but no regrets…..thanks Matt 😂🥵 Priorities.
Eventually, I did lace up and get that run in, but the real action was at my sister-in-law’s house where we celebrated both of my nephews with a joint birthday bash. Nothing beats watching little kids go absolutely feral on a giant waterslide. Pure chaos. Pure joy. Pure sugar highs.
After that whirlwind, we came home just in time for the sky to open up with the kind of thunderstorm that demands one thing and one thing only: an indulgent, deep, afternoon nap. And when I say I slept, I mean I woke up feeling like I had been cryogenically frozen and gently brought back to life with the help of a large iced coffee from Dunkin. Post-nap caffeine hits on a spiritual level.
Rounded out the evening baking a batch of healthy spinach muffins, because I contain multitudes.
And tomorrow? A little self-care. It marks one year since my stress fracture, and I’m celebrating how far I’ve come—with a nail appointment, obviously. Meanwhile, Matthew’s off to grab lunch with one of his police buddies at Dalton’s in Middleburg. I’m sure they’ll swap tales while I get cuticle-deep in glossy neutrals.
Cheers to balance, baby.
Happy weekend!!
