What were your goals and aspirations as a kid?

Happy Saturday, everyone! Wow, what a week it’s been. Getting to spend a few days in Park city was really wonderful and I had such a good time having some hours to myself to read by the fireplace and then play in the snow. A couple of fancy dinners and walks in snow covered trails was a great way to kick off the new year. Regardless, it’s actually really great to be home. I went back to work yesterday and I don’t think I can recall a time in history where I’ve only had one workday in a given week lol my first day back to the office really wasn’t as chaotic as I thought despite all the busy things that are happening with my job right now.

Now I can’t forget to mention the very best part about coming home. I missed my fur baby so damn much! Even though I always leave him in the best care possible, it’s always so hard being away from my baby. Extra spoiling will be happening this weekend and I don’t anticipate any protesting from it lol I think he missed me too.
Not sure what is on tap for the day aside from getting dinner tonight with Matt’s family. In case you haven’t already noticed, my in-laws are very tight in family and I wouldn’t have any other way. We do get together quite often and I really love it. I should do a blog post specifically talking about my in-laws one day lol I can’t tell you how awesome my mother and father-in-law are. And of course I can’t forget to mention my sister and brother-in-law, too along with my adorable nephews. I know that I’m very blessed to have such a great family in my life and I don’t take it for granted. Well, what the heck, let’s go ahead and talk about my family really quickly before I jump into today’s topic!

Let’s start with my father-in-law because he’s special lol I have often told Matthew that my list of favorite people is very short, but my father-in-law is on that list. I have had a connection with that dude ever since I first met him. It seems like we both have the same dry sense of humor and really like to pick on each other lol I definitely know where Matthew gets his personality and I am so grateful that Matt has such a incredible father figure in his life to help him become the man that he is. My father-in-law is a very hard-working man and I really admire how he started out entry level in law enforcement and worked his way up the police department. He has done very well in his working life and honestly, it’s always inspired me. He is precious, which leads me into his better half. My mother-in-law will never meet a stranger and she will give you the shirt off of her back if you need it. She’s a fabulous cook and she’s one of the most patient and loving people I’ve ever met. She’s the modern day version of Naomi and took such doting and incredible care of Matt’s Granny all these years and especially before her passing. I honestly couldn’t dedicate enough space on this page to talk about how wonderful of a person she is. She’s an amazing mother and Matt loves her dearly. She did a phenomenal job of raising Matt and I can never thank her enough for him being the man he is today because of her. An incredible mom and amazing GiGi to the boys. Her and my father-in-law do give us hell sometimes about not having grandkids though lol I kind of hate it that we don’t want kids yet and I do think about sometimes how happy it would make them and also my parents if we decided to start a family but… Here we are lol still child free and loving it!

Alright now my sibling in laws. They’re a fucking mess lol my brother in law was homeschooled just like I was so we vibe. Super cool dude. My sister in law and I have always had a great relationship and love to pick on each other lol she’s just like my father in law so our personalities compliment especially when goofing off. Here's an old throwback of us from 2014!
The kids….don’t get me started. Precious and absolutely spoiled lol Matt is obsessed with those two and the boys absolutely love him to death. Matt and I to them are “Matt and CC” because Carolyne is a bit of a hard pronunciation for the kids lol I love both my families!
All right, let’s go ahead and answer the question of the day for the sake of staying on schedule… Or at least trying to be lol when I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut. I thought the idea of floating in space looked like fun and the subject of science has always been a favorite of mine. Of course this did not come to pass lol I loved science and did very good in it and was taking prep classes to go to nursing school but as we know, God had other plans and they were much bigger and greater than my own.

About to do some light neighborhood walking on this active recovery day. Big fitness things are ahead in the coming weeks and recovering correctly per my “coach” (Matt lol) is critical to hitting some recovery goals! He’s amazing and after this week I told him I wanna be as athletic as him when I grow up lol come back tomorrow for a weekend recap!
