Tuesday Wins - Like and Dislikes

Somehow the universe decided to bless me this morning, because I woke up early with enough energy to squeeze in a workout and a seven-mile run… on a day I also had to travel to campus. I still don’t know how that happened, but I’m not questioning it. Today wasn’t nearly as chaotic as yesterday, but it was still productive in that “I got a ton done and somehow still ended up with more assignments” kind of way. One of those new tasks is actually a bigger project, and I’m surprisingly excited about it. I even managed to sneak in a coffee break with “work Matt,” and we already have dinner planned for next week when he’s back in town after Thanksgiving with his family.

Since today’s scheduled theme is likes and dislikes, I figured I’d wrap the day with a few of the small things that shape my world. I love early morning workouts—the kind that make you feel like you’ve already accomplished something before most people are awake. I love fresh baked bread, the kind that makes the whole house smell warm and comforting. I love a clean home, a good book, and a hot cup of coffee, all layered into one cozy moment. And honestly, nothing beats going to bed early and ending the night snuggled up on the couch with my husband and Mavs.

On the flip side, there are things I could live without… starting with the sound of people chewing. I truly cannot do it. I also have a low tolerance for white lies and half-truths, especially when they come from staff who think I don’t notice—because I always do. And of course, the alarm on my phone has a special place on my dislike list, even when it’s meant to wake me up for something I actually want to do, like a morning run.

It’s funny how much these tiny preferences tell you about yourself. The comforts you gravitate toward, the irritations you quietly avoid—they all weave together into the rhythm of your day, and somehow, that makes even an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more honest.
